BNP Paribas China appoints new co-head of Securities Services

BNP Paribas has appointed Stanley Song as co-head of BNP Paribas Securities Services as it continues to expand and develop its presence in Asia.

Based in Shanghai, Song will report to CG Lai, CEO of BNP Paribas China and Franck Dubois, head of Asia Pacific for BNP Paribas Securities Services.

Song joins Philippe Kerdoncuff, who has been steering BNP Paribas Securities Services since 2016 in a co-head role.

Song will be responsible for strengthening and expanding the bank’s asset servicing capabilities in China.

He will also help to accelerate the growth of the BNP Paribas’ China Access programme which supports international investments into and from China, using the different investment routes.

Prior to joining BNP Paribas Securities Services, Song was head of securities services for Deutsche Bank China.

He previously held senior client management and fund services roles at HSBC, State Street and Standard Chartered in China.

Commenting on Song’s appointment, Lai says: “We are delighted to welcome Stanley to BNP Paribas. He brings a wealth of asset servicing and an excellent knowledge of different client types of custodial servicing needs. Stanley’s appointment is very timely as BNP Paribas continues to deepen its comprehensive onshore expertise to help more investors navigate China’s domestic financial market.”

Dubois adds: “Stanley's appointment will further BNP Paribas Securities Services' growth ambition in China — a key market for BNP Paribas — while we continue to invest in technology and local talent to provide a value-added global asset servicing experience for our clients.”
